Frequently Asked Questions

We do our best to present all information on our website as clearly as possible. However, it may be that you haven’t yet found the answer to your question.

Below is an overview of questions we are frequently asked. Of course, we are also happy to assist you by phone at + 31263653348!

The Trainings

You can register via the registration form for the specific training. You will receive an immediate confirmation by email. Two weeks before the start of the course, you will receive all necessary details by email.

Your registration is final once you have completed the registration form and received the confirmation email. If you would like to make any changes, we are of course happy to assist you. Please call us at + 31263653348. Have you made a provisional reservation? Please note that your option remains valid until four weeks before the start of the program.

Yes, you can make a provisional reservation for a Masters In Lean training. This secures your place while you obtain internal approval or coordinate with your organization. For a reservation, contact us at + 31263653348

Have you made a provisional reservation? This remains valid until four weeks before the start of the program. Please note: if new participants register, your reservation may be cancelled.

This depends on the course. We aim for groups of 8 to a maximum of 14 participants.

Open courses are not industry-specific and can be applied broadly, in line with the Lean Six Sigma philosophy. Our experienced trainers translate the methodology to your daily practice. In-company programs are customized for your specific industry or needs and include a pre-training intake.

Course fees are listed on the respective course page. Select your course to view pricing. You can register directly or request a provisional reservation.

No prior education is required. Trainings are delivered at an HBO (higher professional) work and thinking level.

Masters In Lean also offers in-company training programs, such as Lean Introduction, Agile Introduction, 5S, and Value Stream Mapping (VSM). Most of our open-enrollment courses can also be organized in-company. Contact us if you are interested in an in-company program for your organization.

Yellow, Green, and Black Belt courses are directly accessible. Black Belt requires Green Belt knowledge. Masters In Lean courses are modular, with each course building on the previous one. For maximum impact, Black Belt participants are advised to carry out a Lean (Six Sigma) project alongside the training, with coaching from an experienced (Master) Black Belt. Green Belt participants may also carry out a project in parallel with the training.

Depending on your (organizational) situation, ambitions, and role, there are various training options available. When choosing a program, it is important to have a clear understanding of what you ultimately want to achieve. What are your learning objectives? In some cases, a Lean Yellow Belt is sufficient, enabling you to take on small improvement initiatives. In other situations, a Lean Black Belt program, where you lead multiple improvement projects in parallel together with Green Belts, may be the best path for you. We are happy to help you make the right choice. Contact our training advisors, they will gladly assist you.

Training and exams are held at different locations. Internationally recognized Masters In Lean exams are conducted by the independent body IIBLC©. Exam locations (depending on registrations) include:

  • Nieuwegein

  • Zwolle

  • Den Bosch

  • Antwerp

Lean is a philosophy that focuses on delivering customer value. Its goal is to create smooth-flowing processes without waste. The two main pillars of Lean are putting people at the center and continuously improving processes. All employees are involved in and trained to contribute to continuous improvement. Tools such as a Value Stream Map or a Kaizen session are used to optimize processes. Lean Daily Management ensures that continuous improvement is embedded in the daily routines of teams and departments, with Lean Leadership being a key condition for success.

The goal of Six Sigma is to prevent errors (performance outside the customer’s specification limits). Through a structured approach—Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control (DMAIC)—processes are mapped and analyzed to implement improvements that reduce the likelihood of defects. Analyses are based on measurements, data, and facts. Proposed improvements are thoroughly validated before implementation.

Lean focuses on continuous, small-step improvements as part of daily work. Six Sigma concentrates on in-depth process analysis to achieve significant performance improvements.

Agile is based on the Lean philosophy. Like Lean, Agile focuses on creating a smooth-running process (flow) with consistent output. The main difference lies in the dynamics of the process. Lean typically applies to processes where similar products or services are delivered repeatedly. Agile, on the other hand, was developed for ICT projects, where delivering a software functionality involves a wide range of different work packages, each with its own characteristics and requirements.

That is certainly possible. Please contact us for more information.

Course Materials, Trainers, and Certification

Course materials are handed out on the first day of the training. In addition, you will receive access to the Masters In Lean online learning environment two weeks before the start of the course.

To get the most out of your training, we strongly recommend making use of coaching by one of our (Master) Black Belts. This allows you to apply the training directly in practice, helping you learn even more. We believe Lean theory truly sticks when it is applied in real situations, which is why we offer coaching, also called "learning by doing." Based on our experience, we recommend a minimum of 1.5 to 2 days of coaching per project. The cost is €1,200 per day (excluding VAT). Read more on the following page.

It is possible to use additional project coaching alongside your training. We use a “credit card” system for this. More information can be found on the relevant page.

On the “Consultants & Trainers” page, you can find the experienced trainers from Masters in Lean who conduct the courses.

Masters In Lean issues two types of certificates: a certificate and a proof of participation. For courses with an exam, you will receive a certificate. For courses or workshops without an exam, you will receive a proof of participation.

No, you can choose whether to complete your training with an internationally recognized exam.

Exams conducted by the International Independent Board for Lean Certification (IIBLC) take place quarterly, in March, June, September, and December. Exam dates can be found on the relevant page.

You will receive your results by phone no later than six weeks after taking the exam. In practice, results are usually available within 2 to 3 weeks.

Unfortunately, this is not possible. Exam questions are the property of IIBLC and are not released. However, you will receive a score per section, giving insight into how you performed in each part. Feel free to ask your trainer for more details.

Masters In Lean courses are based on the IIBLC Book of Knowledge (the internationally recognized standard). The Book of Knowledge is provided with the training and specifies the criteria your practical assignment must meet.
