Frequently Asked Questions

We do our best to present all information on our website as clearly as possible. However, it may still happen that you have not (yet) found the answer to your question.

Below you will find an overview of questions that are frequently asked. Of course, we are also happy to help you further by phone + 31263653348!

Training courses

You can register via the registration form of the relevant training course. You will immediately receive a confirmation by email. Two weeks before the start of the course, you will receive all necessary details by email.

Your registration is final once you have completed the registration form and received a confirmation email. If you still need to make changes, we are happy to help. Please call + 31263653348. If you have made a non-binding reservation, please note that your option is valid until four weeks before the start of the course.

Yes, you can reserve a place in the Masters In Lean training. This allows you to secure a spot while, for example, completing internal approval or parallel registration. For a reservation, please contact us at + 31263653348!

A non-binding reservation remains valid until four weeks before the start of the training. Please note that if new participants register, your reservation may expire.

This depends on the specific course. We aim for group sizes between 8 and 14 participants.

The open courses are not industry-specific, but, like the Lean Six Sigma philosophy itself, widely applicable. During the training, our experienced and energetic trainers translate the theory into your daily practice. The in-company programs are customized. They are specifically tailored to your industry or needs. For this purpose, an intake interview is conducted beforehand.

The costs per course can be found on the relevant course page. Select your training of choice to view the fees. You can register directly or contact us for a non-binding reservation.

No prior education is required. The training is delivered at higher professional education (HBO) level.

In addition to open enrollment courses, Masters In Lean regularly offers in-company training, such as Lean Introduction, Agile Introduction, 5S training, and Value Stream Mapping (VSM) training. Most open courses can also be delivered in-company. Please contact us for more information.

Yellow, Green, and Black Belt programs are directly accessible. For Black Belt, Green Belt level is required. The programs are modular and build on each other.
For maximum impact, Black Belt participants are expected to complete a Lean Six Sigma project with coaching. Green Belt participants may also work on a project alongside the training.

Depending on your (business) situation, ambition, and role, there are various training options available. When choosing a course, it is important to have a clear understanding of what you ultimately want to achieve. What are your learning goals? In some cases, a Yellow Belt in Lean training is sufficient, enabling you to take on small improvement initiatives. In other cases, a Black Belt in Lean program, where you, together with Green Belts, manage multiple improvement projects in parallel, is the best path for you. We are happy to help you make the right choice. Contact our training advisors; they are glad to assist you!

The training and the exam are not held at the same location. For the internationally recognized programs of Masters In Lean, the exams are administered by an independent organization called IIBLC©. Depending on the number of registrations, exams can be held at the following locations:

  • Nieuwegein

  • Zwolle

  • Den Bosch

  • Antwerp

Lean is a philosophy that prioritizes delivering customer value. The goal is to create smooth-running processes (flow) without waste. The two main pillars of Lean are putting employees at the center and continuously improving processes. All employees are involved in and trained to continuously improve processes. Using tools such as a Value Stream Map or a Kaizen session, processes are improved. Lean Daily Management ensures that continuous improvement is embedded in the daily routine of teams and departments, with Lean Leadership being a key condition for success. The goal of Six Sigma is to prevent defects (performance outside customer specification limits). Using a structured step-by-step approach (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control), the process is mapped and analyzed to achieve improvements that reduce the likelihood of errors. Analyses are based on measurements, data, and facts. Proposed improvements are carefully validated before implementation. Lean focuses on continuous small-step improvements as part of daily work. Six Sigma focuses on in-depth analysis of processes to achieve major improvements.

Agile is based on the Lean philosophy. Like Lean, Agile focuses on creating a smooth-running process (flow) with a constant output. The main difference lies in the dynamics of the process. Lean assumes a process in which more or less the same product or service is repeatedly delivered. Agile was developed for ICT projects, where delivering a software feature consists of many different work packages, each of which may differ from the others.

That is definitely possible. Please contact us for more information about this.

Training materials, trainers and certification

On the first training day, you will receive the study materials. In addition, you will get access to the Masters In Lean online learning environment two weeks before the start of the course.

To get the most out of the training, we strongly recommend using coaching from one of our (Master) Black Belts. This helps you apply the training more effectively and enhances your learning experience. We believe Lean theory only truly sticks when applied in practice, “learning by doing.” Based on experience, we recommend at least 1.5–2 days of coaching per project. The cost is €1,200 (excluding VAT) per day. More information is available on the relevant page.

In addition to the training, there is the option to use additional project coaching. This works via a strip card system. You can read more about this on the dedicated page.

On the consultants & trainers page, you can see the experienced Masters in Lean trainers who deliver the courses.

Masters In Lean offers two types of certification: a certificate and a proof of participation. For courses that include an exam, you will receive a certificate. For workshops or courses without an exam, you will receive a proof of participation.

No, you can choose whether to complete your training with an internationally recognized exam.

The exams by the International Independent Board for Lean Certification (IIBLC) take place quarterly, in March, June, September, and December. The exact dates can be found on the relevant page.

You will receive your results by phone within six weeks after the exam, including your grade. In practice, this is often within 2–3 weeks.

Unfortunately, this is not possible. The exam questions are the property of IIBLC and are not released. However, participants do receive a score per section, providing insight into performance per topic. You can ask your trainer for more details.

The Masters In Lean training programs are based on the IIBLC Book of Knowledge (the internationally recognized standard). This Book of Knowledge is provided during the training and outlines the criteria your practical assignment must meet.
